Many tourists are drawn to Barecelona to see Antoni Gaudi's increbible architecture.
Barcelona celebrates the 150th anniversary of Gaui's birth in 2002.
Gaui's work was essentially useful. La Casa Mila is an apartment building and real people live there.
Back to topThe complicatedly named and curiosly unfinished Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Family is the most visted builing in Barcelona.
Back to topBarcelona is sucha great place to live. People there really put a premium on socializing . Imagine it being more important to go out with friends than to get a big promotion. Even when you're, gasp, pushing 30 . They say there are more bars in Barcelona than in the rest of the European Community combined.
Don't get me wrong, I dont mean that everyone gets drunk all the time -- bars are for hanging out and talking or for having a cup of coffee (espresso, of course).
The opinion expressed on this page are mine and mine alone.

Its not hard to figure out what's good for kids, but aimd the noise of an increasingly anitchild political climate, it can be hard to remember just to go ahead and do it: for exaple, to vote to raise your school districts budget, even though you'll pay higher taxes...
The picture shows one of the fruit stands in the Mercat de la Boqueria, the central market that is just off the Ramles. It is an incredible place, full of every kind of fruit, meat, fish, or whatever you might happen to need. It took me a long time to get uo the nerve to actually take a picture there.
Back to topI love how they stack up the fruit and vegtables. I'm always tempted to take a pepper out of the bottom row.
